Eye Routine — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 July 2026
This privacy policy applies to the Eye Routine mobile app. Eye Routine is published by APPSTAR LTD. Eye Routine is a non-medical app that helps you take regular screen breaks and follow short guided visual routines and focus patterns on screen-heavy days. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition, and it does not claim to improve your vision or provide therapy.
Publisher
Eye Routine is published by APPSTAR LTD, a private limited company registered in the United Kingdom (company number 17261860).

No accounts
Eye Routine does not use accounts and does not have a sign-up or login. The app does not ask you for a name, email address, phone number or profile. You do not create a user account to use the app, and APPSTAR LTD does not receive your payment-card information.
Information stored on your device
To make the app work, Eye Routine stores your preferences locally on your own device. Depending on how you use the app, this can include:
- whether you have completed onboarding
- your reminder interval and break duration
- whether the Rest Timer is enabled or disabled
- your favourites and saved routines
- a local cache of your Premium-access state
- your advertising-measurement consent choice
These app settings are held on your device to run the app. Eye Routine does not upload the full contents of your local settings, favourites or saved routines to APPSTAR LTD. Limited allowlisted analytics events may record certain app interactions or selections, such as a selected reminder interval, as described in the Limited product analytics section below.
Notifications
If you enable the Rest Timer, Eye Routine uses local notifications on your device to remind you to take a screen break. Notification permission is controlled by your operating system, and you can change it at any time in your device settings. Eye Routine has no server-push backend, so reminders are generated locally on your device. Your reminder schedules and break history are not sent to TikTok. A reminder cannot take over another app automatically — you choose whether to open the break screen.
Purchases and subscriptions (RevenueCat)
Eye Routine offers an optional Premium subscription. Payment is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. RevenueCat is used to manage and confirm your Premium access, and RevenueCat remains the single source of truth for subscription access and revenue. To do this, RevenueCat may process:
- an anonymous app-user identifier
- the product or subscription identifier
- trial and purchase status
- renewals
- cancellations
- expiration
- restored purchases
- price and currency, where supplied by the store
APPSTAR LTD does not receive your payment-card details. No personal health or medical data is collected as part of this process.
Limited product analytics (PostHog)
Eye Routine uses PostHog for limited, pseudonymous product analytics, to understand in aggregate how the app is
used and to improve it. The app does not identify users by name, email address or account, and it does not call
PostHog's identify() function. PostHog assigns a random identifier so events can be associated across
app sessions. This analytics is deliberately limited:
- no
identify()and no user accounts - no session replay
- no screen recording
- no heatmaps
- no autocapture
- a strict allowlist of events and properties
- no health or medical data
- no IDFA or Android Advertising ID is sent by the Eye Routine PostHog implementation
The PostHog project is hosted in EU Cloud. The "Discard client IP data" setting is on, so raw client IP addresses are not stored with new events. The GeoIP transformation is paused, so new events are no longer enriched with GeoIP location properties.
Historical note: before GeoIP was paused on 17 July 2026, some earlier analytics events may have been enriched with approximate geographic properties. These historical properties were not audited or deleted during the 17 July 2026 privacy-hardening work, so we do not claim that historical data was removed.
Advertising measurement (TikTok)
Eye Routine can share a small, limited set of advertising-measurement events with the TikTok Business SDK so we can understand how well our advertising works. This is off by default.
TikTok advertising measurement starts only after you explicitly choose "Allow measurement" inside the app. On iOS, Apple App Tracking Transparency authorization is also required. If either your Eye Routine consent or the required iOS ATT authorization is absent, TikTok measurement remains off. You can withdraw your consent later through "Privacy choices" in Eye Routine, and on iOS you can also change Allow Tracking in your iOS Settings.
When measurement is on, the current limited scope is:
- install / first launch
- onboarding completion
- a generic app-activation event when a core feature is enabled
- trial started
- initial subscription purchase
For trial and purchase events, the value, currency and product identifier may be included.
Eye Routine does not send TikTok your:
- name
- email address
- phone number
- account details
- precise location
- health or medical information
- specific exercises performed
- saved routines
- reminder interval
- detailed reminder or break history
Purchase measurement safety (TikTok)
RevenueCat remains the source of truth for subscription access and revenue. TikTok's automatic in-app-purchase tracking is disabled. Instead, after you consent, Eye Routine manually forwards only the approved, limited initial trial and purchase signal described above. Restore Purchases is not reported as a new TikTok purchase. Renewals, cancellations, refunds and expirations are not currently forwarded to TikTok by the app.
Advertising identifiers
Eye Routine is built to keep its use of advertising identifiers to a minimum:
- the Android AD_ID permission is absent
- the Android advertising ID (GAID) is not collected or used
- Eye Routine's own application code does not directly access the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA)
If you choose "Allow measurement" and also authorize Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission, the TikTok Business SDK may access the IDFA and limited device information for advertising measurement. If either permission is not granted, TikTok advertising measurement remains off.
On iOS, the App Tracking Transparency prompt is still requested because TikTok advertising measurement is subject to Apple's tracking-permission rules. SKAdNetwork may be used for privacy-preserving advertising attribution on iOS.
TikTok SDK crash diagnostics
The TikTok Business SDK includes remotely controlled crash diagnostics. If TikTok enables this capability and a fatal crash is attributed to TikTok SDK code, TikTok may receive technical crash information such as exception details, thread stacks, app and operating-system versions, device model, timestamp, memory or application statistics and the TikTok SDK version.
The accompanying request may also include device, network or advertising-measurement context, including the IDFA when Apple App Tracking Transparency authorization has been granted, the IDFV, IP or network information, ATT status and a persistent TikTok anonymous identifier. This means that transmitted crash diagnostics may be linked to a device and associated with TikTok advertising measurement.
Eye Routine does not use a separate first-party crash-reporting service. TikTok controls the remote setting that enables or disables its SDK crash monitor, and APPSTAR LTD cannot determine the current server-side setting from the app. This capability can initialise only after you choose "Allow measurement" and, on iOS, also authorize Apple App Tracking Transparency. If these permissions are not granted, TikTok measurement and its SDK crash monitor do not initialise.
Apple Search Ads
Separately from TikTok measurement and from ATT consent, Apple's AdServices framework may provide privacy-preserving Apple Search Ads attribution to RevenueCat, to indicate whether an install came from an Apple Search Ads campaign. This is distinct from the TikTok advertising measurement described above.
Your choices and controls
- Choosing "Not now" keeps TikTok advertising measurement off.
- Choosing "Allow measurement" enables the consent path (on iOS this also requests ATT).
- "Privacy choices" in the app lets you view the current state, allow measurement later, or withdraw consent.
- Withdrawing consent blocks future TikTok initialization on later launches.
- On iOS, you can also change the system tracking permission in Settings.
- Subscriptions are managed through your Apple or Google account.
- Notifications are managed through your device settings.
- Privacy requests can be sent to privacy@appstar.uk.
Please note that withdrawing consent blocks future app-initiated TikTok measurement and prevents TikTok initialization on later launches. Events or crash diagnostics that were already queued or sent before you withdrew may still be processed and cannot be recalled.

International processing
APPSTAR LTD is based in the United Kingdom. The PostHog analytics project is hosted in EU Cloud. RevenueCat, TikTok, Apple and Google may process data in other countries under their own applicable safeguards. We therefore do not claim that all data stays only in the United Kingdom or the European Union.

Local app settings remain on your device until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app, subject to your platform's behaviour. Third-party service providers retain data according to their own policies and APPSTAR LTD's configuration with them.
Children
Eye Routine is intended as a general wellness-style tool for a general audience and is not directed at children. The current version does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Future changes
If features such as new analytics, accounts or cloud sync are introduced in a future version, this privacy policy and the store data safety information will be updated before that release.
